Hypnosis Vs. Meditation: What’s the Different?

Hypnosis Vs. Meditation What's the Different

People wondered that is What Are The differences between Hypnosis and Meditation?

Both are used by people for their benefits, and Meditation has much longer Historical Data than Hypnosis, this will make more questions about Meditation.

However, we discussed before “Is Hypnosis Similar To Sleeping? What’s the Difference?” and found that they have similarities but differences. Now, we will expand more and witness what the differences are between them.

Hypnosis Vs. Meditation: What’s the Different?

There are certain characteristics when we compare both, such as:

  • Hypnosis is mainly imagination highly vivid, and the brain activity and frequencies are almost Theta brain waves. The state of relaxation is more likely daydreaming while in a trance under Hypnosis.
  • Meditation isn’t in the trance mood or trance-like state, but Meditation could help you get relaxation state like Hypnosis. Nevertheless, Hypnosis aims more strong relaxation properties by promoting Progressive Muscle Relaxation Techniques.
  • In Hypnosis, the Hypnotherapist’s knowledge puts you into the hypnotic state, whereas in Meditation, the focus is on the Meditator’s independent mental state to relax or meditative state.
  • Hypnotherapy helps people with all sorts of mental health issues, including Depression, Anxiety, insomnia, ADD/ADHD, memory loss, and many more. Meditation has not any specific target to reduce Depression or other health issues such as insomnia or Memory loss.

There is exactly the study available for those who want to know.

Here: Direct comparisons between Hypnosis and Meditation –

Hypnosis and meditation both promote relaxation. Both techniques have benefits, but there are differences.

Meditation Has More Different Variations Than Hypnosis

3 Things Hypnosis Cannot Do

There are no various techniques available in Hypnosis same like Meditation. Here some example of different Meditation Techniques such as:

  • Mindfulness meditation
  • Spiritual Meditation
  • Movement meditation
  • Loving-kindness Meditation.
  • Qigong (Cultivating Life Energy With Meditation)

Some Meditation practices I published are known as well as supported by the science called: “Mindfulness Meditation.”

Besides, not all Meditation is researched by science, and some forms of Meditation include the chakra system through “energy,” “chi, “or prana,”

In these terms, Meditation is more “subjective,” but in Hypnosis, you won’t need to cultivate energy such as Prana, Qi, or Kundalini. These terms accepted by Meditator, and Meditative Practitioners

Is Mindfulness The Same As Meditation?

Yes, Mindfulness, the best-researched meditation technique, helps to overcome Stress in daily life. Besides, some studies show it might lower inflammatory cytokines by altering the cortisol level and stimulating the positive genes.

Hypnosis Is More Target Oriented

Suppose you have any specific problems, such as Social Anxiety, Fear of Flying, and Anxiety caused by negative thoughts as well as other environmental factors; in that case, Hypnosis is a more practical way to specify that problem by promoting certain Hypnosis Techniques and Roadmap.

In Hypnosis, the certified Hypnotherapist use that Roadmap to decide which kind of Psychological Questions and Affirmations they should use.

a Hypnotherapist could analyze you by asking questions to determine the root problems. Then, they modify their “hypnotic suggestion” and “hypnotic techniques” to solve that problem and make a better connection.

In Meditation practices, no one can analyze you for a psychological response or a subconscious mind.

One example is that Mindfulness meditation makes you aware of your thoughts with Mindfulness. Still, in Hypnosis, you are more likely to collaborate with The Clinical Hypnotherapist, and they use Hypnotic Techniques and other strategies while necessary.

Meditation Rooted To Eastern Philosophy

Taoist, Buddhist, Zen Meditation, and other types of Meditation techniques are rooted in their Philosophies.

On the other hand, Hypnosis does not need to demand Philosophies, paradigms, or belief systems.

Also, Meditation is more traditional and has a different kind of approach inside.

Hypnosis is more science-supported and used by Populer Psychologist.

Meditation is also supported by science, but not all of them.

Meditation can be done anywhere, but it’s most often done seated with the eyes closed or focusing on breathing.

Meditation Can Have Belief System Such As Enlightenment

Most meditators use Meditation to reach Nirvana and become Enlightenment individuals, but not all Meditation has that kind of ultimate target.

Hypnosis doesn’t have any purpose for reaching the Enlightenment state or being human spiritual individuals.

Most Traditional Methods can try to educate their “willpower” by Fasting, taking Cold Showers, and avoiding sex. But, Hypnosis won’t target those issues.

Related3 Things Hypnosis Cannot Do

Both Of Them Are Great For Relaxation

Meditation And Hypnosis can put one into a Calm, Relaxed state and promote reducing the stress hormone cortisol.

Also, there are some studies support Mindfulness Meditation can alter Gray matter in the brain, improve relaxation response, and better stress management skills.

Stress management is crucial because relieving stress can helps reduce inflammation, promote longevity, and support optimum health.

You Need To Collaboration For Better Hypnosis Session

You can’t get a Hypnotic State if you have too much bias, as well as trust issues with your Hypnotherapist.

You need to trust your Hypnotic Therapist for more reasonable results. The conscious mind always tries to resist Hypnotic suggestions through Self-Sabogeting Techniques; however, if you can’t trust your Hypnotherapist, your session won’t be as effective as it might be.

Similar to Meditation, a Hypnotherapist uses some Guided imagery Hypnotic Techniques to put you into a Trance state, and you will be more receptive to the suggestion that state.

But in Meditation, you need a certain amount of relaxation, but not specific deep relaxation like Hypnosis.

Depending on the situation, Hypnosis can be more intense at first, and you might feel weird feelings after Hypnosis. They are not dangerous, and the mind-body can react differently from person to person.

Stanford University School of Medicine study found that not everyone is hypnotized because people’s brains differ from those who can easily hypnotize. So, I think it would be best if you could read an article here:

Choose Certified Hypnotherapist

You can find the Hypnosis audios and mp3s on Youtube. They are similar to “Guided Meditation” and are not as strong as working on Clinical Certified hypnotherapists.

Self-Hypnosis could alleviate Stress, but it might not be as powerful.

Hypnotherapists use certain Hypnotic strategies to guide you, and you will get more benefits from it.

Always work with a High-Quality Hypnotherapist or psychologist if you have deep-rooted phobias, Anxiety, and fears.

My name is James! I'm a licensed or certified mental health practitioner with specialized training in hypnosis is the only person as well as psychotherapy. I hope this article will help you.
