What Causes My Weird Feeling After Hypnosis?

Why Do I Feel Weird After Hypnosis
People who are easily hypnotized have long been believed to be powerless under suggestion and lost all capacity for free will. Instead, researchers believe that even highly responsive hypnotized patients have power and remember things.

You may ask yourself, “Why I’m feeling Such A Different When I Get Hypnosis?”

It’s happening for sure.

Hypnosis is used for overcoming addictions such as Smoking and even Gambling. Some people use Hypnosis to manage stress, anxiety, and phobias.

We wrote many articles about the benefits of Hypnosis for overcoming stress and anxiety. After Hypnotic Trance and hypnosis sessions, most people reported they became more relaxed, calm, easy-going, and felt good.

Yet, not all people experience the same. Some people feel “weird” after hypnosis sessions and have physical symptoms such as nausea, stomach pain, and tiredness. This can be mild, and it won’t last long.

Let’s dive into it.

Hypnosis Has Mild Side Effects

After Hypnosis Session, some people report these symptoms such as:

  • Headache.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Dizziness.
  • Anxiety or distress.
  • Creation of false memories.

These are mostly short-term and can pass; however, if you have highly traumatic experiences, phobias, and fears, these symptoms are triggered by Hypnosis and hypnotic trance. And also, if you have anxiety and phobias, these emotions can show as physical symptoms even though they might be a healing process. (depend on)

It doesn’t mean Hypnosis created those; it simply means that your subconscious mind releases some of your suppressed emotions.

Hypnosis allows you to connect the subconscious mind by hypnotic suggestion, and you might feel weird for a while.

Across the past more than 100 years of scientific research on hypnosis, not a single case has revealed any harm caused by the hypnotic state.

Not All People Tap Into the Subconscious Mind

Can Hypnosis Rewire The Brain
Hypnotic Affirmations have power because they generate ideas in the brains of those who hear them. Hypnotic programming, as well as Hypnosis, works by repeated exposure from affirmation and suggestion from a Hypnotherapist.

The subconscious mind deeply collects most of our emotions, memories, and thoughts.

We don’t become aware of our subconscious mind unless we have good knowledge about Meditation, Hypnosis, and other techniques that help tap into it.

Hypnosis can allow and change our Subconscious mind by promoting Theta Brain waves, and Theta brain waves can be linked to the Subconscious mind.

For that, if you don’t have any experience with how to tap into Subconscious Mind, you might feel weird at first.

If you wonder, “Can everyone be hypnotized?” we wrote an article to answer for sure.

Some DNA variations associated with social separation and kind of autism were the most vulnerable to hypnosis. For that, I would suggest reading about that article.

Meditation Experience Can Reduce The Side Effect Of Hypnosis

The five main characteristics of Hypnosis are:

  • Relaxation.
  • Focused concentration.
  • Immobility.
  • Hyperawareness of the five senses.
  • Rapid eye movement

Like Hypnosis, Meditation can also trigger Relaxation and Focused Concentration by helping tap into the Subconscious mind.

Continuously Meditation can help to better connect our Subconscious mind by promoting Alpha and Theta Brain Waves.

How To Tap Into Repressed Memories?

First, you need to trust and want to Collaborate with your Hypnotherapist. Otherwise, you won’t tap into Hypnosis easily as well as you can’t reach the repressed childhood or other painful memories.

Under Hypnosis, you will be in a Hypnotic Trance State, which stores the repressed moment and memories. Nevertheless, a Hypnotic Trace can occur when your brain is ready to “Thera Brain Waves” and make sure you are not using too much Caffeine or other stimulating things.

You must be driven to overcome the situation about which you are fearing about.

Are Any Specific Factors That Could Make Someone More Susceptible to Experiencing Strange or Uncomfortable Feelings After Hypnosis?

Great question. Well, let me tell you, there are a few things that could make you more likely to have a strange or uncomfortable feeling after hypnosis. But don’t worry, it’s not like being possessed by a poltergeist or anything like that; it’s more like experiencing a little bit of an after taste of a delicious meal.(Most of the time, people don’t feel bad or other things.)

But First, if you have a history of mental health issues(substance abuse), you may be more susceptible to experiencing strange or uncomfortable feelings after hypnosis.

Second, if you have a history of traumatic events(PTSD), you may be more likely to experience distressing memories or emotions during hypnosis. But, if the hypnotherapist is well educated, he or she will know the issues and bring you to a safe place.

Third, if you have a history of substance abuse(Cocaine, Meth or other), you may be more susceptible to experiencing strange or uncomfortable feelings after hypnosis.

Here’s a short example for better understanding:

FactorsSusceptibility to strange or uncomfortable feelings after hypnosis
History of mental health issuesMore susceptible
History of traumatic eventsMore susceptible
History of substance abuseMore susceptible

So as you can see, if you have any of these factors, it’s important to discuss them with your hypnotherapist before beginning any hypnosis session.

Yet do not forget that experiencing strange or uncomfortable feelings after hypnosis is not something to be alarmed about or panic about it. it’s quite normal and it can be managed by discussing it with your hypnotherapist.

The Weird Feeling After Hypnosis

If you are new at Clinical Hypnosis, you might feel a tingling sensation through Hypnosis techniques such as Progressive Relaxation as well as Imagery Guided Visualization.

Why can This happen? Because Progressive Relaxation can help people better manage stress and become more relaxed. Progressive Relaxation is the powerful Hypnotic Techniques utilize by hypnotherapists to help deep relaxation and reduce cortisol.

That’s another reason you are experiencing tingling sessions in Hypnosis because the Relaxation under Hypnosis might feel you that way. (Nerve system also becomes more relaxed)

It is not a sort of mind control. When your stress response sympathetic system goes down through Hypnosis, and you become relaxed, you might also feel sensations in your body because amygdala functions become reduced.

The subconscious mind functions as a computer, storing what we experience with our five senses. Because hypnosis taps into the subconscious, this indicates we are learning how to tap into the subconscious and relaxed state. These symptoms are mostly mild, and don’t forget that Hypnosis is not harmful unless you have a Schizophrenia history.
