The chakra notion originated in Hinduism’s early traditions. Beliefs fluctuate amongst Indian faiths, with many Buddhist writings referring to five chakras while Hindu traditions allude to six or seven.

Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit. The body has 7 chakras, each for a different area and function. Chakras are often seen as spinning energy wheels.
